How to Plan a Trip to China

It may be daunting to plan a trip to China even if you have already experienced many travels abroad. Planning your first trip to China could use some help.

One of the first things to consider when planning your first trip to China is where you want to go. You can go to Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. If you have time, you can also visit Guilin and Chengdu. Choose places that will interest you much. It is good to research these areas so you will know the places that you really want to go. Make sure to check out what activities you can do in these places.

In Beijing you will see both historical and modern places. You must see Beijing since it is home to China’s Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

You will discover much of China’s history in Xi’an. It was here that China began as a nation. This is the place where the first emperor of China ruled. The Great Mosque, the grand Terracotta Army, and the Wild Big Goose Pagodas can also be seen here.

Shanghai is the largest and showiest city of China. It has spectacular skyline with towering modern architecture. You can tour Hangzhou, Suzhou, or Huangshan which are water towns.

If you want some picturesque scenery then you can visit Guilin where a Chinese minority lives. The landscape in this place is truly beautiful and it gives you a relaxing escape from the city. You can cruise the Li River to Yangshuo. At the Longji Rice Terraces you will find a minority culture where you can spend some days. You will also experience their tiered fields and get to experience the minority tribes of Zhuang and Yao.

Chengdu is home to the giant pandas. In Chengdu you also get to taste great cuisine like the Spicy Sichuan hotpot.

So, after picking your destination, decide how long you will stay. Staying in a China for a week is ideal if you just don’t want to scratch China’s surface.

You should be aware of the gateway cities and the visa policy of China. Beijing and Shanghai are the top gateway cities for international flights. You can also enter China via Hong Kong.

Also consider the best time to travel to China. You can visit China’s cultural and historical attractions all year round. The seasons don’t affect the things to do in these regions. It is during spring and autumn or from April to October that you can best and the most comfortable time to go to China.
